What is the difference between a mini facelift and a facelift?

Differences between a mini facelift and a full facelift include anesthetic type, the extent of dissection, and extent of incision lines. The terminology used for mini facelift versus a full facelift can sometimes be confusing. Some plastic surgeons’ definitions differ between “mini facelift” versus “full facelift”. Often even more confusing, some of the following terms can actually refer to a thread lift which is not a surgical procedure.

Lunchtime facelift

Generally refers to a thread lift which is not a surgical procedure and therefore, typically does not provide the same extent of the cosmetic surgical result.

Quick facelift

Generally refers to recovery after a facelift. Dr. Azouz’s mini and full facelift procedures utilize special medications to minimize pain, bruising, swelling, and downtime.

How is a Mini facelift performed with Dr. Azouz?

The mini-lift is performed in 2 to 3 hrs. Dr. Azouz will make a small incision to help lift the lower half of the face.The incisions are hidden behind and within the ears, and a small incision is created under the chin. Liposuction of the chin helps recreate the definition of the jawline. Loose skin along the chin, jawline, and neck can give you an older-looking appearance. Liposuction of the chin can create a more youthful look with a more defined jawline. SMAS is plicated which builds up the cheekbone and adds volume to the midface. This creates a more defined cheekbone.

During most of Dr. Azouz’s mini facelift procedures, a combination of local anesthetic and sedation will be used. This combination of anesthesia allows the patients to be comfortable during the procedure and experience less postoperative nausea and grogginess. A long-lasting local anesthetic minimizes pain post-operatively.

How long does a Mini Facelift last?

A mini-lift lasts around 10 years. If you would like the result to last longer then a full facelift is recommended since it would last nearly 20 years.
