Blepharoplasty typically is performed to remove excess folds of skin, pouches under the eyes and, in some instances, is accompanied by an additional procedure to correct sagging eyebrows. One or all of these changes can be made during a single operation. The extent of the procedure depends on what changes are desired and what Dr. Azouz deems appropriate. The exact location of the incision will be based on an individual basis.
The surgery will be performed under a local anesthesia with sedation. The sedative and local anesthetic allow you to be comfortable during surgery. Medication will be provided to you as needed to relieve any pain, however many patients report they take over the counter tylenol or no medication at all. The elimination of sagging, superfluous skin and fatty tissue around the eyes presents a younger, rested appearance.
Many patients have their eyelid surgery performed in conjunction with a facelift procedure.
